Appreciation for Howard Wang and Prana Dynamics
In his Prana Dynamics seminar, Howard Wang (Huai Hsiang Wang) taught principles of awareness that allowed participants to experience and access their own native primordial life-force energy (prana). Some of Howard’s senior students assisted him in helping seminar participants to experience and practice the techniques.
I first encountered Howard through his foundational six-month online Prana Dynamics course. In the online course, a prerequisite to attending the in-person seminar, Howard shared principles and techniques that I had not encountered before, or that I had not sufficiently understood from my other martial arts explorations and practice.
I attended the hands-on seminar with high expectations. The seminar fully exceeded them. The experience has transformed and elevated my understanding and practice of internal martial arts.
At the seminar, all the concepts Howard taught in the online course were on full display for rigorous self-validation. We put the principles of rooting, alignment, bypassing, inflation/deflation, and synchronization to the test. Using these principles, every student had the opportunity to validate their individual energy expression with other students.
Howard was also readily available to clarify any misconceptions. More importantly, Howard made himself accessible to correct and validate each student’s hands-on expression of the prana energy.
Students from many different martial arts disciplines experienced this. Practitioners’ various backgrounds included Tai Ji, Qi Gong, Gong Fu, Jujitsu, Aikido, Daito Ryu, and other martial arts.
As an Aikido practitioner, I felt Howard’s energy both as a feeder (the role of ‘uke’ in Aikido) and as the receiver (the role of ‘nage’ in Aikido).
This invaluable experience enabled me to entrain within my body the flowing sensation of the primordial magnetic energy. So, the experience has become a touchstone of validation, a reference point, if you will, that I now carry within me as a living, internal gauge for my own Prana Dynamics practice and internal martial arts evolution.
The flowing sensation of energy is prana. It is ‘aiki’. Call it what you will, it is the primordial energy that is native to each and every one of us. The practice enhances health as well as a person’s connection to his innate spirit and to others. And it is accessible through the practice of Prana Dynamics.
I highly recommend Howard Wang’s Prana Dynamics online course, followed by the hands-on seminar, for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and practice of the internal arts.
My sincere gratitude and thanks to Howard, Greg, Drew, and all who attended.
